![]() Speaking as someone who started with MHFU, then skipped two generations until World came out (no Wii, no 3DS, no money), and then bought GU and Rise at the same time two weeks ago, I like GU much better than Rise. Wouldn't fix the forgettable level design, but that's a whole other problem. I wish the devs would've made them behave like the scoutflies in World, where they scatter whenever a monster engages you. I feel you, I don't think the wirebug belongs in MH. ![]() If I want something so mindnumbingly offense oriented, I'd play Dynasty Warriors. Instantaneous charges, hit boxes from walking, and even some of the clunkiness on GU encouraged a considerate approach to the hunt. Any hunter that was smart would just back off if garuga was cornered with his right side exposed. This meant that any experienced hunter would avoid his right side. If I recall correctly, Yian Garuga had a counter clockwise tail spin that happened instantly. In GU, you'd have to wait your turn and figure out your openings. It sucks that I have to chase the monster in multiplayer, even with Diversion on, but I'm not ALWAYS on the offensive, which is something I don't think many people appreciate. Do I have enough time to fit a wyrmstake in my combo? Is this a good moment to do a wyvern fire? Am I at an area where poking doesn't do much? Shell instead, then. ![]() I felt that way too and decided to just stick with the gunlance. I hope new Monster Hunter games feel more like GU and less like Rise. Maybe what I said isn’t agreeable and people like Rise but this is something that frustrates me when I go back to play. Rise isn’t a bad game but something about it just feels clunky and not in the quality. Lobbies are in Rise and I’ll probably use them from now on but I’m sad a greater focus wasn’t pushed in the game or by the characters. Using lobbies in GU is great fun and just making small talk with people who come in and doing quests with them adds an aspect to the game I was missing in Rise. Its not something I want taken out but it feels so unfortunate to those who aren’t using lobbies. It felt even better with other players.Īnd on that topic, I dislike join request a ton now. In GU every monster felt fair even if they were a challenge. Playing GS in Rise is a pain against something like Magnamalo cause the thing won’t stop fucking moving. The numbers feel meaningless and I actually like there being none in GU. The gameplay doesn’t have the same satisfying feel. Rise feels too fast and gimmicky with the wirebugs. So good that I can’t comfortable go back to Rise. Now that I’ve really gotten into it man its so good. Since then I went back to GU and it was hard at first. I loved the game a lot and considered it one of my favorites. I really started with Rise blasting through the game, putting it down till 3.0, then blasting through again.
