It’s been impossible to ignore Foxx’s absence from the movie’s press run. It’s an exhausting part of the job that requires not a little diplomacy. For the past few weeks, Boyega has been zipping across the country promoting They Cloned Tyrone ahead of its release, some of which has involved addressing his costar Jamie Foxx’s recovery from an undisclosed medical condition. He orders a Shirley Temple, having already eaten and napped. His chest is out, his skin is glowing, and a durag graces his cornrows. His latest character, Fontaine, is the grounding force in a trippy universe where Black people are being lied to in multiple dimensions. Brubeck is said to have glanced at the magazine and looked up at Ellington - who Philip said was one of his heroes - and said, “It should have been you.”Īs great as Brubeck was, it’s impossible to argue he was more important than Duke Ellington. Ellington knocked on Brubeck’s door, handed him the magazine and congratulated him. Brubeck happened to be staying at the same hotel as Duke Ellington when the issue was published. In 1954, Brubeck became the second jazz musician to be featured on the cover of Time magazine (Louis Armstrong was featured five years earlier). Philip verified a touching story that illustrates how life worked back then. Jazz, of course, was dominated by African-Americans. The final time element is when Brubeck lived and worked. Philip Clark on Dave Brubeck, Part 2 25:51.Philip Clark on Dave Brubeck, Part 1 25:48.This of course stands in opposition to the stereotype of musicians as highly creative and dramatic characters. The vision is more of a guy riding a commuter train to his job as an accountant or actuary than somebody pushing the boundaries of jazz. The Brubeck Philip describes is a family man, a suburbanite with a nice house in an affluent town in Connecticut. For instance, the Brubeck’s marriage lasted 70 years (and his wife, Iola, was an important figure in his career). The second way in which time plays a role is in Brubeck’s stability. It’s that Brubeck was able to integrate these advanced ideas and approaches while keeping the final pieces accessible and tuneful enough that he became a star. The most important point is not technical, however. It’s complex stuff not easily understood by somebody who is not a musician or, for that matter, not a mathematician. Philip offers an explanation in the first part of the video and in the book. Perhaps most significantly, Brubeck experimented with time signatures and rhythms. Brubeck with “Take Five” composer Paul Desmond This came through clearly in my conversation with Philip Clark, author of “Dave Brubeck: A Life in Time.” The seed obviously was planted in the book’s title and is prominence in its introduction (which can be read in the “Look Inside” feature). Much of the discussion surrounding Dave Brubeck involves the idea of time, though in different ways. ![]() If you don’t use the dough right away, you can store in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze it for up to two months. So we ordered one sandwich to split and a Tito's and cranberry. We wanted a quick lunch while we were getting ready one day. Don't get food delivered to your room either. That is perfect and I'm assuming that's why you pay so much to stay there.Īlso the "Library" lounge is not a library. I would rate the Inn a 3/5 on service and friendliness compared to the West Baden. I live about 30 minutes from the West Baden in Indiana and I was just expecting more from the Inn, I suppose. Every person we encountered working there while on our stay was snobby and rude. We went there for our honeymoon for a week. at one time there they even served hamburgers etc. The demand for (and profitability of) afternoon tea was large enough to move it downstairs to more capacity and lunch was eliminated, but we were inaccurately guided to library for snacks and appetizers. it was snacks and appetizers to be taken with drinks! Ugh! So at the Biltmore Inn, now, one cannot have a lunch!!!!! The Inn guests have to leave the hotel if they want to take lunch. So we go back upstairs and were seated after long wait. Then we went downstairs for lunch and they informed us that they had transformed downstairs dining room into the "tea room" for afternoon tea and that upstairs in the library where high tea had been held, they were serving lunch. The valet informed us we would have a $20 parking fee for this lunch! Didn't make me very happy. ![]() So we pulled up to Inn to valet park (raining hard). We had not eaten at Biltmore Inn for perhaps a year or so. Sometimes, though, their reach for profit exceeds their mission and value proposition. We're so grateful for one of N.C.'s greatest treasures. We have had passes to Biltmore for years. It's a MUST try activity for all ages, and these guys are absolute pros and make the entire trip fun! The only downside is the pricing of the pictures taken, which is a bit expensive for what you get. Ample parking, clean amenities onsite - shower, bathroom, changing station, locker ($2), etc. They have approx 84 tour guides onsite, very professional - ensure the trip is fun and safe for everyone. Took approx 90 minutes for the upper region, and I believe it is the same for the lower region, too. It was a packed day, but they handled it well - they are very well organized and structured, a big shout out for people at parking, at the check-in office, they help run the place efficiently. Staff at SMO are extremely friendly and supportive of any changes (availability and best interest). We got there and talked at the check-in office - got it changed to upper pigeon - the best decision - my son thoroughly enjoyed it! This was the first rafting trip for my 8yr son, and I had booked a lower pigeon. We had an amazing time rafting the UPPER PIGEON. Still, as always, you should check out and decide for yourself. I downloaded the app called Dollywood and it worked great for the first 1-2 hours but it stopped reporting wait times before lunch which made it hard to plan. I had fun but $90 is way too much for what is offered. Maybe the worker shortage or all considered the off season. I noticed quite a few booths were empty and there were no open photo booths after the coasters. At least twice the size of Auntie Anne's. I have no issue with the quality of the rides but when you have less rides the wait times will inevitably rise. They have 9 coasters where Hershey has 15. ![]() The layout of the park is decent enough but it seemed to be lacking in thrill rides. I've heard about the shows at Dollywood but they weren't showing when we were there. Living one hour from Hershey, PA it's only natural that Hershey Park is my metric for other amusement parks. But they do have a hardware store that sells JD merchandises, they do close at 5pm though and we missed it. I wish they had accessories on-site to buy also. There is a shop on-site where you can buy the bottles and customize couple of bottles. It was fun to taste them and know the difference. They had different flavor profiles and tastes to it. We had a sample tasting at the end of tour and we got 5 samples to taste. He had an interesting history and glad he succeeded in it. Then Debbie explained us the history of Jack and how he started making whiskey. The tour starts with smelling the amazing slit whiskey and it smells heaven. There process of making whisky is almost similar to everyone else except a little bit of new process which I saw only at JD distillery, which was amazing. ![]() Our Tour guide Debbie was amazing and she explained us the history of Jack and distillery perfectly. It was raining a bit and weather was perfect so we don’t get tired in sun. We took the Angles share tour ( pre booking is recommended) and we had lots of fun. This place is one of the best distillery tours I went on. ![]() Speaking as someone who started with MHFU, then skipped two generations until World came out (no Wii, no 3DS, no money), and then bought GU and Rise at the same time two weeks ago, I like GU much better than Rise. Wouldn't fix the forgettable level design, but that's a whole other problem. I wish the devs would've made them behave like the scoutflies in World, where they scatter whenever a monster engages you. I feel you, I don't think the wirebug belongs in MH. ![]() If I want something so mindnumbingly offense oriented, I'd play Dynasty Warriors. Instantaneous charges, hit boxes from walking, and even some of the clunkiness on GU encouraged a considerate approach to the hunt. Any hunter that was smart would just back off if garuga was cornered with his right side exposed. This meant that any experienced hunter would avoid his right side. If I recall correctly, Yian Garuga had a counter clockwise tail spin that happened instantly. In GU, you'd have to wait your turn and figure out your openings. It sucks that I have to chase the monster in multiplayer, even with Diversion on, but I'm not ALWAYS on the offensive, which is something I don't think many people appreciate. Do I have enough time to fit a wyrmstake in my combo? Is this a good moment to do a wyvern fire? Am I at an area where poking doesn't do much? Shell instead, then. ![]() I felt that way too and decided to just stick with the gunlance. I hope new Monster Hunter games feel more like GU and less like Rise. Maybe what I said isn’t agreeable and people like Rise but this is something that frustrates me when I go back to play. Rise isn’t a bad game but something about it just feels clunky and not in the quality. Lobbies are in Rise and I’ll probably use them from now on but I’m sad a greater focus wasn’t pushed in the game or by the characters. Using lobbies in GU is great fun and just making small talk with people who come in and doing quests with them adds an aspect to the game I was missing in Rise. Its not something I want taken out but it feels so unfortunate to those who aren’t using lobbies. It felt even better with other players.Īnd on that topic, I dislike join request a ton now. In GU every monster felt fair even if they were a challenge. Playing GS in Rise is a pain against something like Magnamalo cause the thing won’t stop fucking moving. The numbers feel meaningless and I actually like there being none in GU. The gameplay doesn’t have the same satisfying feel. Rise feels too fast and gimmicky with the wirebugs. So good that I can’t comfortable go back to Rise. Now that I’ve really gotten into it man its so good. Since then I went back to GU and it was hard at first. I loved the game a lot and considered it one of my favorites. I really started with Rise blasting through the game, putting it down till 3.0, then blasting through again. This characteristic is essential to the vast majority of its uses. In most applications, the lead of a screw thread is chosen so that friction is sufficient to prevent linear motion being converted to rotary, that is so the screw does not slip even when linear force is applied, as long as no external rotational force is present. The mechanical advantage of a screw thread depends on its lead, which is the linear distance the screw travels in one revolution.
